Today many health insurance companies cover the cost of massage therapy treatments. We will be accepting Aetna, Regency, Cigna, Humana, United Health Care, Triwest, Personal Injury, Motor Vehicle Accident, and Worker’s Compensation cases. These insurers offer different plans to choose from, some of which may cover our services and some of which may not, but we help you find out if your plan covers our services. By contacting us today, we can begin to verify your insurance benefits through your insurance provider. Some of the answers that we will obtain for you are:

  • Does your policy cover our service?
  • Does your coverage have any exclusions or limitations?
  • Do you have in or out-of-network coverage?
  • Do you have an annual deductible?
  • Do you have a co-payment or co-insurance?
  • Do you have a yearly visit limit?

If your policy covers our treatments, we will bill your insurance provider for our service. If our services are not covered under your plan, then we will inform you of alternative payment options for future treatments during your phone consultation. We accept cash and most major credit cards.

If insurance is not an option for you though you s9ll will receive treatment, we offer significant savings by purchasing a treatment package when you become a loyalty member. Our Packages include substantial discounts for pre-payment for your treatments. Regardless of your financial situation, we will tailor a treatment package if your insurance policy does not cover our service.

To learn more about office policy regarding payments and procedures don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We would be more than happy to provide you will our wellness treatment information package as well.

Most policies require a Prescription from your provider. You may be wondering who can write a prescription or referral.

Who can write a prescription or referral?

MDs (Medical Doctors), DOs (Doctors of Osteopathy), NDs (Naturopathic Doctors), Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physician Assistants, and Acupuncturists. At Stress Knot we aren't just trained but we are certified in medical massage and clinical terminology and can communicate with your medical providers, insurance companies, and attorneys, if needed. Typically treatments are given over in 45-60 minute sessions depending on the prescription.

Personal Health Plan Information

When scheduling an insurance-covered massage, please be aware that:

  • Insurance plans can change every year. Your coverage might also.
  • Massage Is often covered by group plans but not individual plans.
  • Sometimes a plan only covers massage if it is administered by a chiropractor or physical therapist, or only in their office. Knowing this before your session is helpful.
  • A prescription for massage might be required under your plan.
  • Some insurance plans require you to have met your deductible before massage is covered.

Even though we will request verification on coverage it's still important that you ask your insurance company these questions.

  • Do I have coverage for "in-network" or "out-of-network" Massage Therapy?
    • Currently Stress Knot is out of Network Provider.
  • Is massage therapy covered under my plan when it is performed by an independent Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) who is NOT working under/or with a chiropractor or physical therapist?
  • Is massage covered or included under physical therapy benefits when billed as 97140?
  • Do I need to have a referral/prescription or get "pre-authorization" for massage therapy?
    • Most plans require this.
  • Is it subject to my deductible if so what is that?
  • What is my co-pay or coinsurance amount?
  • How many total visits do I have for massage for this calendar year?
  • Are these visits shared with any other practitioners like Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, or Acupuncturists?
    • Have I used any of those visits this year?
      • If so, how many are remaining?
